To enhance your experience and the experience of others around you, it is best to follow these few common courtesies:
- Please silence your phones or put on vibrate (ideally prior to entering the building)
- Please arrive approximately 5-15 minutes prior to your massage start time. Recurring customers can easily jump into a session when arriving 5 minutes early but new clients should leave time for brief paperwork and for any questions/concerns with the therapist.
“These days, most people choose to experience massage in the nude.” Any reputable spa will have trained therapists on how to properly drape during the session, to ensure you are appropriately covered at all times as they move from one body part to the next. The most important thing to your therapist is that you’re comfortable. If you feel more relaxed wearing your underwear, then most therapists are easily able to accommodate.
What customers usually do: The vast majority of people automatically tip 20 percent of the total cost for the service. However, If you ever purchase a series of massages or a discounted deal, you should still tip on the original price — and most people realize that.
What the spa staff wants you to do: Massage therapists appreciate a 20% (of the original cost) tip and even more so if given in cash and coupled with a quick, “thank you!”
